Patchouli growth habit

Growth habit

1. Plant growth and development habits

Seedling Growth Habits Within one month after patchouli was planted, seedling growth was slower, and later growth accelerated. The growth of seedlings has a great relationship with the temperature of the planting season. It takes 7-10 days for the muscat seedlings planted in winter or early spring to return green, and it takes only 3-5 days for the muscat seedlings planted in the spring 3-4 months to return to green. The time of planting the group to accompany seedlings is faster than cutting seedlings.

(1) Plant growth habits

Patchouli is a multi-branched herb and its growth is indicated by the number of branching growth. There are many branches and high growth, and the first-level branching can reach 15-18 pairs after planting for 3 months, and the plant height is 40-60. In centimeters, the crown of the plant is 30 (40) x 40 (-50) cm. Plant growth has basically been blocked, the leaves of the base of the stem have begun to yellow, and the plants have grown to maturity.

(2) Effect of Fertilizer on Yield of Patchouli

Patchouli is sensitive to the response of fertilizers, especially for large amounts of nitrogen fertilizers, and appropriate application of both phosphorus and potassium fertilizers. When the nitrogen fertilizer is lacking, the plants grow slowly, the leaves become yellow and small, the branches are few, and the yield is low.

(3) Dynamic accumulation of effective components of patchouli

The patchouli oil is contained in the whole plant of Patchouli, and the oil content varies in different parts. The leaf oil content is 2.6% and the oil content in the stem is 2.0%. However, the effective components of patchouli alcohol in leaf oil are lower than the oil content in the stem oil. . In addition, the oil content varies depending on the harvest season.

2. Requirements for environmental conditions

Patchouli is native to tropical regions and has a constant temperature and moist environment. From the large-scale cultivation of tropical and subtropical regions in our country, it shows strong adaptability.

(1) Temperature

Thermophilic, annual average temperature of 19-24 °C, year-round frost-free or occasionally short frost areas can be planted. The area with an average annual temperature of 24-26°C is most suitable for growth. When the average monthly temperature is above 30°C or below 17°C, patchouli grows slowly or stops growing.

(2) Rainfall

Patchouli likes abundant rainfall, even distribution, and moist environment. Requirements for annual rainfall of 1,600 to 2,400 millimeters, artificial irrigation in areas with annual rainfall below 1600 millimeters or in areas with obvious droughts need to be strengthened. Rainy seedlings are beneficial to seedlings returning green and fast, and the survival rate of planting is high, but it is necessary to pay attention to the timely removal of stagnant water in order to prevent rotten plants.

(3) Lighting

Patchouli is a fully-illuminated plant. Under sufficient sunlight, the plants grow robustly, have strong growth habits, have abundant stem tissues, thick leaves, and a high dry/fresh ratio of stems and leaves, and the oil yield is about 15% higher. Patchouli needs a certain amount of shading before the nursery period and the planting period. Once the long roots have sprouted or returned to green, the shade is removed. With sufficient light, adequate water supply and sufficient fertilizer supply can make Patchouli grow fast and strong. If the light is too strong and the water supply is insufficient, the growth potential of the plants is poor or stops growing. The leaves become red, the paper strips become hard, and a large number of fallen leaves are caused.

(4) Wind

Patchouli is only fragile and it is easy to break when it encounters strong winds, affecting growth and reducing yields. Therefore, when choosing planting sites, care should be taken to choose a sheltered environment.

(5) Soil

With loose and fertile soil, slightly acidic, well-drained sandy loam is suitable for the growth of patchouli. The patchouli planted on the loam soil is of good quality and high oil yield, but the loam must be strengthened by cultivating, draining, and preventing soil compaction.

Vegetable Powder

Our organic vegetable powder mainly used dehydration technology. Dehydration vegetable powder remained most fiber and taste of fresh vegetables, so they are suitable to be added in sauce, stuff, pudding, yogurt and dessert. Some vegetable powder could be applied as pigment like red beet root powder. Some could be mixed with other super green powders to make health formula, kale powder and broccoli powder are always good choice for customers.
