At this year's MWC, most mobile phone manufacturers are looking for cool accessories to get their mobile phones more attractive, from Bluetooth headsets to 360-degree panoramic cameras. Like Samsung, LG guessed that smartphone users would like virtual reality, and we tested the LG 360 VR in Barcelona .

First, the device connects to the phone via USB instead of making the phone part of the headset like the Gear VR. That means it's compatible with more phones (although it's only compatible with the LG G5, but it will be extended to other phones in the future) and it's lighter. Of course, that is, it has its own display.

Although it is not a wireless connection (wireless connection is one of the few advantages of mobile VR devices compared to PC VR devices, PC VR devices are more powerful), but you can still enjoy the VR experience anytime, anywhere, without having to pull Windows 10 PC or PlayStation 4. Because this device is very light, it is more portable than the Gear VR and various Google Cardboards.

However, there will be losses if there is. At LG's booth, our first LG 360 VR experience was not very good, the software often crashed, and sometimes the device seemed to have its own thoughts, even if my head didn't move, eyes stared at the menu screen, and its sensors detected Out of action.

Although it is very mirrored, it feels a bit cheap and fragile, especially the eye adjustment dial, which feels a bit low-end (when I use them, one is stuck in one gear). The audio comes from the speaker of the phone (which is extremely bad), or you can plug your headphones into the headphone jack of the LG 360 VR.

The image quality of the LG 360 VR stand-alone screen is not bad, but it is a hundred thousand miles away from the Oculus Rift, and it is not comparable to the rapidly mature Gear VR. However, we like the LG 360 VR's simple two-button navigation system, which has a fast response time and is suitable for viewing 360-degree panoramic video.

To be fair, we are using pre-production samples for media events, and there are two months of development time from the official release. It is possible that many of these issues will be resolved before you buy the LG 360 VR in April.

But this experience just explains why the Oculus Rift took four years to get from the Kickstarter to the merchandise stage, and why the best VR headsets need to be plugged into a high-end PC. When VR enters the public, behind the finished product, it is sure to hide a lot of superb technology in order to achieve the best user experience.

Not choosing such a high-end VR experience can really save money (the price of LG 360 VR has not yet come out), but the price is worth the price, and virtual reality devices are beginning to flock to the market.
