The Guangdong Provincial Department of Health announced today an updated list of local pharmaceuticals, which is the second province after Qinghai to issue a list of supplements for local drugs. The document shows that in the Guangdong supplement, 147 varieties of chemical drugs and biological products were added, and 131 kinds of Chinese patent medicines were added. In the last edition of the base medicine supplement, Guangdong added 244 medicines. At the time, the Guangdong side said in an interview that the drugs in the National Drug List are not enough at the grassroots level.

On March 15th, the country's new edition of the list of base medicines was introduced, from the first edition of 307 to 520. It is widely expected that under the premise that the new version of the base medicine itself has been expanded, the central government’s attitude towards the addition of various provinces will begin to tighten. The situation like the large number of supplements to the provinces of the first edition will not be reproduced. The Central Government’s "Look Back" program also clearly pointed out that there are more varieties added. However, before this, the Medical Administration Department of the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Health disclosed to the Great Wisdom News Agency that “the large provinces such as Zhejiang have a large demand for medicines, and the new base medicine is not enough”.

On July 1, Qinghai took the lead in publishing the first local base drug supplement list, supplementing 200 varieties, which was looser than expected and triggered concern in the industry. This time, Guangdong is also following the footsteps of Qinghai, and the capacity for expanding varieties has increased dramatically.

According to statistics, Guangdong added more than 100 exclusive varieties of proprietary Chinese medicines, and only a few non-exclusive products are mostly produced within 20 companies, and they are also products with strong price discourse.
