Yale researchers use fMRI to read consciousness to reconstruct faces

The team asked six people to observe 300 different "training" faces while performing fMRI scans. They used this to build a statistical database of the brain's response to these individual faces. Then let the six people see a new set of faces in the next scan.
To extract these fMRI data, the researchers used their statistical database to reconstruct the faces seen by the subjects.
Cowen said that the accuracy of facial reconstruction has steadily improved with the improvement of the method. The team said that their discovery could even rebuild the dream.
