Candidid's 3D Print Orthodontics is FDA approved for just $1,900

Release date: 2017-09-21

New York dental startup Candid is providing FDA-approved 3D printed orthotics for those who need mild to moderate orthodontics. These aligners cost $1,000, which is about a quarter of the cost of popular dental solutions like Invisalign.

Candidid will send a DIY dental modeling kit to customers to collect their own teeth at home. Once collected, the customer needs to send the dental print to Candid to make the aligner.

After receiving the dental impression, the staff will first check the dental impression to ensure that the teeth only need “mild to moderate” correction. If this correction is exceeded, the client will need to seek additional professional assistance in accordance with local laws.

If everything is ok, Candid will generate a 3D model that reflects what it looks like after orthodontics. If the customer is satisfied with this corrected appearance, Candid will print the aligner in 3D and send it to the customer along with a whitening solution.

The correction process takes about five months, after which the customer also needs to wear a holder at night to maintain the corrective effect.
