Method for verifying the smoothness of soft plastic film packaging at higher temperatures

Abstract: The smoothness of soft plastic film in packaging during cigarette packaging is an important factor affecting the operation and packaging speed of packaging machines. In this paper, the friction coefficient of soft plastic film samples at 60 °C was tested by Labthink FPT-F1 friction coefficient-peel tester, and the basic process of the test and the applicable scope and equipment parameters of the test equipment were briefly introduced. It can be referred to when selecting the soft plastic packaging smooth performance test equipment and test methods.

The soft plastic smoke film used outside the cigarette case is mostly biaxially oriented polypropylene film (BOPP), which has the advantages of high transparency and gloss, good shrinkage, certain moisture resistance and aroma retention. The friction coefficient is an important performance index of the smoke film. Its performance is related to the speed of cigarette packaging, the stable operation of the packaging machine and the packaging effect. The coefficient of friction of the film involves the coefficient of friction between the outer surface of the film and the metal, the coefficient of friction between the inner surface of the film and the packet of the cigarette packet. Generally, the coefficient of friction of the outer surface of the film should be low, and the coefficient of friction of the inner surface. The requirements are higher. Generally speaking, the friction coefficient of the soft plastic packaging has a great relationship with the temperature of the packaging film itself. At the cigarette production site, the process of the friction between the inner surface of the packaging film and the cigarette packet is generated at room temperature. However, during the operation of the packaging equipment, the temperature of each component of the equipment is higher than room temperature, so the friction coefficient generated when the outer surface of the packaging film slides on the equipment is different from the friction coefficient of the packaging film at normal temperature.

2. Status

The domestic test standard for the friction coefficient of soft plastic packaging is GB10006-1988 "Method for Measuring the Friction Coefficient of Plastic Film and Sheet". The test requires that the test be carried out in a standard environment. This article refers to the American standard ASTM D1894 test sample at 60 ° C. Coefficient of friction under conditions.

4.1 Test principle

The test is based on the definition of the coefficient of friction—the ratio of friction to the pressure perpendicular to the contact surface. The static friction coefficient of the sample is obtained by applying a certain vertical pressure to the sample by a weight of a known weight, and then testing the sample from a relatively static to a large static friction force and sliding friction force generated during the relative sliding process. Dynamic friction coefficient.

4.2 Scope of application

(1) This equipment is suitable for dynamic and static friction coefficient of plastic film, sheet, foil, paper, cardboard, woven bag, fabric, metal material composite tape for communication cable, conveyor belt, textile, papermaking and other related materials.

(2) This equipment is suitable for the determination of peel strength of adhesive composite products, medical patches, release papers, protective films and other products.

(3) This equipment can meet a variety of national and international standards, such as ISO8295, ISO8510-2, GB10006, GB/T2790, GB/T2791, GB/T2792, ASTMD1894, ASTMD4917, ASTMD3330, TAPPIT816, TAPPIT549.

4.3 Equipment parameters

The load range is divided into three levels: 0~5N, 0~10N, and 0~30N.

The test accuracy is 0.5.

There are seven kinds of test speeds available: 50mm/min, 100mm/min, 150mm/min, 200mm/min, 250mm/min, 300mm/min, 500mm/min, which meet the test requirements of different standards.

The test temperature is controlled from room temperature to 99.9 °C.

Both the instrument test bench and the test slide are subjected to degaussing and residual magnetization detection, which effectively reduces the system test error.

5, the test process

(1) uniformly cut three specimens of 6.35cm×10cm and 25cm×13cm in the longitudinal direction of the sample, and take one sample from each sample to form a group of samples to form 3 Group of samples.

(2) Select the friction coefficient test mode and set test parameters such as test speed, test temperature and stroke.

(3) The 6.35cm×10cm smoke film sample is clamped on the slider, and the inner surface of the sample is in direct contact with the slider; after the test platform reaches the set temperature, the 25cm×13cm sample is laid on the test platform. Upper, fixed with tape or sample holder, the outer surface of the sample facing up. A system for forming a coefficient of friction between the outer surfaces of the test specimens is formed. During the process of clamping the specimens, the hand cannot touch the test surface of the specimen, and the specimens should be flat and free from wrinkles.

(4) Connect the slider to the force value sensor with the connecting device, and then place the slider without impact on the middle portion of the sample fixed on the test platform, so that the sliding direction of the sample is parallel to the test direction.

Figure 3 Sample clamping process (5) Click on the Start option and the test begins. The equipment automatically calculates the friction coefficient and displays the test results according to the force value changes during the test.

6, test results

The average values of the friction coefficients of the smoke film tested at 60 ° C are: static friction coefficient 0.511, dynamic friction coefficient 0.469.

7. Conclusion
Since the temperature of the equipment is often higher than room temperature during the operation of the cigarette packaging equipment, such temperature changes are likely to affect the coefficient of friction between the smoke film and the equipment, so the friction of the smoke film is tested under the temperature conditions actually achievable by the packaging equipment. The coefficient can truly reflect the smoothness of the smoke film during use. FPT-F1 friction coefficient-peel tester is a cost-effective testing equipment. It can be used for the test of peeling strength of medical patches and release papers, in addition to the test of smoke film dynamic and static friction coefficient. Moreover, the operation of the device is simple, the test result has high precision, and the repeatability is good.
