China's national brain intelligence technology and application national engineering laboratory was established in Hefei recently, and will use the human brain mechanism to tackle artificial intelligence technology and promote the development of emerging industries such as brain-like nerve chips and brain-like intelligent robots.

"The brain-like brain is an important way to develop artificial intelligence. It can reveal the way of human brain information processing by developing brain-like intelligence, which is conducive to the complete intelligent technology system and promote the development of China's intelligent industry." Chairman of the Brain Lab, China Science Wan Lijun, president of the University of Technology, said.

It is understood that China's current research in the field of artificial intelligence, there are problems such as brain cognition and brain-like information processing capabilities are relatively weak. In January of this year, the National Development and Reform Commission approved the China University of Science and Technology to take the lead in building the “National Engineering Laboratory for Brain-like Intelligence Technology and Application”. The joint construction units include Fudan University, Shenyang Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Microelectronics Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Baidu Company to jointly build brain-like intelligence. The technology application research platform supports the development and engineering of technologies such as brain cognition and neural computing, brain-like chips and systems, and brain-like intelligent robots.

"The human brain is a high-level intelligent product that has evolved in the natural world for hundreds of millions of years. The next stage of artificial intelligence development must learn from the human brain." Wu Feng, director of the brain laboratory and executive director of the School of Information, University of Science and Technology of China, introduced the current brain-like intelligence. The development faces three major bottlenecks, namely, brain mechanism cognition is unclear, brain-like computing models and algorithms are inaccurate, computing architecture and capabilities are constrained, and brain-like labs will focus on these three major bottlenecks.
