With the withdrawal of highly toxic pesticides from the market, the demand for biological pesticides such as avermectin will increase substantially.

In the international market, the EU officially re-registered 320 pesticides on December 31, 2003, and established the REACH regulations (the EU is seeking comments on the registration, assessment and restriction of chemicals). Japan has established a "positive list" system, which is unfavorable information for chemical pesticides, while biological pesticides are not affected. Annual sales worldwide of avermectin and its derivatives are expected to increase substantially.

Because of the unique mechanism of action of avermectin and its good effects on pests, mites and nematodes, it has become one of the best varieties of pesticides to replace highly toxic organophosphorus pesticides. The United States has approved ivermectin. It is used for the control of nematodes in cotton (the annual loss caused by cotton nematodes in the United States is 400 million U.S. dollars). Since 1995, China's exports of avermectin accounted for 30% to 40%, and exports have also grown rapidly.

As the avermectin market continues to expand, it has attracted a lot of money to enter this field. In 2004, avermectin was sold at a high price, and many companies were forced to start avermectin urgently, driven by profits. After the price war of disorderly competition, the price of abamectin in 2005 will fall again. Therefore, in addition to the domestic market, avermectin manufacturers also have to pay more attention to the international market and make use of the advantages of abundant raw materials and low labor costs in order to make the products go abroad more.
