Winter storage seeds
Improved varieties are the prerequisite for increasing crop yields. In addition to combining well-selected varieties for summer and autumn harvesting, it is also necessary to do a good job of seed storage. Winter storage seeds should pay attention to the following points: 1. Select seeds. Before the seeds are put into the storage, they should be selected by wind or artificial screening to remove the impurities in the seeds and improve the storage purity of the seeds. At the same time, the surplus grain and debris in the warehouse should also be removed, and the storage tools must be sterilized to prevent the spread of pests and diseases and reduce undue losses. 2. Turn off the seeds for good storage. The moisture content of seeds of food crops must be controlled within 13%. Seed moisture content is too high, susceptible to freezing damage and mold, affecting the germination rate. 3. Avoid mixing. Seeds stored in winter storage must be labelled separately for different crops, different varieties, and different grades, and stored separately. Must not be stored together with commodity foods and rations to avoid eating or selling. 4. For the storage of small seeds, plastic bags should not be used. Because the plastic bag is airtight, it interferes with the normal breathing of the seeds. In severe cases, the seeds will suffocate, affecting the seed survival rate and germination rate. 5. Keep seeds away from damp places. The cabinets and bags with seeds should be above 40 cm above the ground in order to facilitate ventilation and prevent the seeds from getting damp. 6. Avoid cold and hot. Seeds that are stored outdoors cannot be directly transferred to the warm room after the weather becomes cold. Otherwise, the germination rate of the seeds will be reduced due to sudden temperature changes. 7. Avoid smoke. Seeds should not be placed in smoked places. If the seeds are fumigated by the smoke for a long time, not only the germination rate of the seeds will be reduced, but also the seedlings grown will be infected because the seeds do not germinate. It cannot be placed in a warmer bedroom. 8. Seeds cannot be placed together with pesticides and chemical fertilizers. Because pesticides and fertilizers are volatile and corrosive to varying degrees, they all have an impact on the physiology of the seeds and may reduce the germination rate of the seeds. 9. Stored seeds should be checked carefully. When checking, check for signs of moisture, insects, rodents, and mildew. When problems are found, preventive measures should be taken in time to ensure safe storage of seeds for winter.
