Winter and spring tea gardens focus on pruning
Tea tree pruning in winter and spring can promote the emergence of multiple side branches of young tea trees, form a good crown structure, early garden, early high-yield. Adult tea trees are properly pruned so that the height of the tree crown is moderate, the coverage is increased, the leaf area index is reasonable, and high yield and quality are achieved, which can achieve the purpose of prolonging the production period. First, the stereotyped pruning of young tea trees. When the newly planted tea plants grow to 33 cm or more, stem diameter 0.3-0.4 cm, and there are one or two branches, the first pruning, cut 15-20 cm away from the ground, cut the main branch, retain the lateral branch . Tea trees are less than 33 cm in height and should be postponed. For the third trimming, a horizontal trimming of 10-12 cm should be performed on the second cut. Pruning is usually performed from late February to early March. After three stereotypes of pruning, the skeleton of the tea tree has been basically formed, and later it can be combined with light pruning and picking to further cultivate a good canopy. Second, light cuts of adult tea trees. Adult tea trees are lightly pruned for years or every other year to cultivate high yield canopies and extend harvesting years. Pruning time is generally performed after the end of autumn tea (late November to early December). In cold regions, it can also be trimmed in early spring. The trimming height is generally increased by 3-4 cm under the clipping position in the previous year, cut the autumn shoots, and retain one third or one half of the summer shoot branches. Third, deep pruning of adult tea trees. After a few years of light pruning of adult tea trees, a large amount of frugal, diseased shoots, dead branches, etc. appear on the canopy, and the transport of nutrients and moisture is affected. The germination of tea shoots is reduced and the yield is relatively decreased. Therefore, the tea farmer must carry out a deep pruning, cut off the 10-15 cm branches of the green leaves of the tree crown, and strengthen the management of fertilizer and water after cutting, reusing the winter fertilizer and attacking the spring bud fertilizer. In winter, thick earth is to be cultivated, and loose clay is used to cut the base of the thick tea tree around or outside the tea pot. If there is miscellaneous soil fertilizer, soil will be applied after soil fertilization.
