Symptoms mainly affect the leaves, petioles, and stems. Leaves on both sides of the infected leaves have round to irregular spots, with slightly raised edges and depressions in the middle. Lesions on the leaf surface are yellow-brown and the back of the leaves is light reddish-brown with brown edges. Petiole, stem infected with diseased ovoid raised slightly larger lesions, about 3mm long, most lesions when the fusion, causing petiole and stem twisted, withered on the top.

The pathogen Sphace10ma arachidis Bitaucourt et Jenkins is called Aspergillus grostes, a fungus belonging to the genus Deuteromycotina. Meringue buns are brown or black, mat or dish-shaped. Conidial stems are single rooted and densely formed on the disk as an olive velvet layer. Conidia elliptic to spindle-shaped, unit cells colorless, size 5-23-4 (μm).
