Seed "hibernate" attention å•¥
The safe winter storage of crop seeds is a key link in agricultural production and an important part of the rural winter and spring season. Technical points should focus on the following points: Drying and cleaning before seed storage. Seeds with high water content are susceptible to mildew after storage, resulting in reduced seed germination and viability. When the mildew is severe, the seeds lose their use value. Therefore, before the seeds are put into storage, they must be dry and sunny on the sunny days, so that they are fully dried, and the water content can be stored in the warehouse after reaching the safe storage standard. The standards for the safe moisture content of seeds of different crops are not the same: peanuts 9%, cottonseeds 11%, soybeans, sunflowers 12%, wheat, millet 13%, corn, sorghum 14%, rice 15%. Clean the site before drying. Do not dry directly on the concrete floor to avoid high temperatures on the concrete floor and burn the seeds. Different varieties should not be allowed to dry in the same airing area to prevent mixing. Turn it two or three times a day during the drying and store it in the evening or cover it in place. In combination with air drying, seed cleaning is performed to remove impurities, scorpions, scorpions, and worms in the seeds, so that the purity of the seeds is more than 99%. The storage place should be dry, heat-insulated, moisture-proof and easy to ventilate. Before the seeds are put into the warehouse, the warehouse shall be cleaned, disinfected with 10% lime water, ventilated and dehumidified, and pests and rats in the library shall be killed with medicaments. Then lay the mat on the ground, the height of the mat is 50cm from the ground. The seed is placed on the mat so that it does not come into contact with the ground. Different crop varieties must be individually labeled and stored separately to avoid mixing. Before the seeds are put into storage, they should be tagged with the seeds of each bag according to the crop and species, indicating the name, quantity, grade, moisture content, and time of storage of the seeds. Bulk seeds should also be placed on the label as required to prevent mixing. Because the plastic bag is airtight, it will block the air circulation, cause the seeds to have anaerobic respiration and produce organic acids, alcohol and other harmful substances, causing embryo poisoning, and the moisture and heat generated by anaerobic respiration will not spread out and will cause fever and mildew in the seeds. Loss of germination, so you cannot use plastic bags to hold seeds. Do not store in the same warehouse as pesticides, chemical fertilizers, etc. Most pesticides and fertilizers have varying degrees of volatility and corrosiveness, which endanger the viability of seeds. In winter and spring seasons where seeds are stored for a long period of time, the outdoor temperature is low, the warehouse is sealed, harmful gases such as pesticides and chemical fertilizers in the library are difficult to remove, and inhalation of harmful gases during seed breathing can cause cell poisoning and reduce their viability. Serious poisoning loses germination. China Agricultural Network Editor
