Indications

 

Betamethasone Acetate is used for steroid-responsive disorders when oral therapy is not feasible.

Dosing Management

 

Adult

Titration to the lowest effective dose. The usual range: 0.25-9mg / day.

 

Child

Titration to the lowest effective dose. 0.02-0.3 mg / kg / day initially, 3 or 4 times.

Cautions 

 

Avoid intravenous injection. Not for the treatment of traumatic brain injury or optic neuritis. Accompanied by systemic fungal infections, active eye herpes simplex, cerebral malaria, live vaccine: not recommended. Latent or active amebiasis. Round worm infection. tuberculosis. If exposed to chickenpox or measles, consider preventative passive immunotherapy. Swiss franc. Recent MI. hypertension. Renal insufficiency. Gastric ulcer. Diverticulitis. Intestine anastomosis. Ulcerative colitis. Cirrhosis. Unstable or infected joints. Postmenopausal women (risk of osteoporosis). Additional steroids supplement physiological stress. unstable emotion. Mental illness. Myasthenia gravis Avoid sudden stops. Thyroid gland, body weight, growth, fluid, electrolyte balance and intraocular pressure were monitored (for> 6 weeks of treatment). Pregnant (Cat.C). Nursing mother.

Woking Mechnism

 

Enhance CYP3A4 inhibitors (such as ketoconazole, macrolides), cyclosporine, estrogen. CYP3A4 inducers (eg, barbiturates, phenytoin, carbamazepine, rifampicin). May enhance cyclosporine (epileptic risk). May antagonize anticoagulants (monitoring), isoniazid, other CYP3A4 substrates (eg indinavir, erythromycin). Digitalis increases the risk of arrhythmia. It may be necessary to adjust the dose of antidiabetic drug. Aspirin increases GI effect. Monitor hypokalemia in potassium-deficient drugs such as amphotericin B and diuretics. Accompanying neuromuscular blockers; increased risk of myopathy. Anticholinesterase drugs are withdrawn at least 24 hours before starting corticosteroid therapy. Aminomide may cause corticosteroid-induced loss of adrenal suppression. May inhibit the response to skin
